Alexis Taylor is a Canadian country music music artist from Huntsville, Ontario, Canada. A graduate from Middle Tennessee State University, Taylor found herself back in the Volunteer State, cheering on her beloved Nashville Predators and recording her upcoming album.

With her biggest musical influences being Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Shania Twain, Taylor looks to change the country music landscape like her favorite performers did. Since she was young, Taylor was always singing but it wasn’t until she was older when she started to really get into it.

“My parents have always told me that ever since I was able to talk, I was singing.” Said Taylor. “It wasn’t until I was in high school that I started to write more and play more. But I was always doing something musical growing up.”

In 2016, Taylor traveled to Sweden and performed in front of the largest crowd of her career.

“I think the largest number of people that I played for was in Sweden back in 2016. I was opening for Doug Seegers and we played in this little town square area. There were faces as far as I could see, it was crazy. I’m not sure how many people were there but there must have been a couple thousand at least.”

While in Nashville recording her next album, Taylor performed in front of a crowd that she can’t forget.

“One of my most memorable shows would have to be a show that I played in Nashville a few weeks ago. I got to open for a country duo Love and Theft, which was awesome because I am a huge fan of their music. It was also memorable because I had a lot of my friends there. Even some friends that were in town from Canada stopped by to see the show.”

Even the best performers have their fair share of struggles, and for Alexis Taylor she’s not afraid to admit it.

“The daily struggles that I deal with in the music industry always differ day to day. Like many other careers, there are good days and bad days.” Taylor said.  “Sometimes you get the radio interview, sometimes you don’t. Sometimes you write a great song, sometimes you lay on the floor for hours looking at an empty page. Its not very often that I have the same problem twice. I think that the struggles are what makes it worth waiting for the success. The hard times only make the good times better.”

Taylor gave Under Review a little spoiler on one of the songs on her upcoming album. Taylor was asked what her favorite song she wrote was, and she hinted that it may be coming on her new album.

“This is a tough question because trying to choose my favorite song that I have written depends on my mood. Last week, I wrote a song called Bend the Truth that I am hoping to release this year. I don’t want to give the song away, but it is my favorite song that I have written so far. Hopefully I will get to share it with my fans soon!”

Taylor had some advice for anyone who wants to pursue a career in music.

“If I could give advice to anyone thinking about pursuing music, I would say start today. Stop waiting and stop putting it off. Tomorrow is going to come, and you are going to wish that you started yesterday. So rather than waiting until you feel like it, or waiting until you want to do something, do it now. Dream crazy dreams, and then find a way to achieve them by working a little bit at it every day.”

Lastly, Taylor wanted to make sure her fans know how much they mean to her.

“One of my favorite parts about performing is getting to interact with my fans. Social media has definitely been a game changer when it comes to the growth of my fanbase too, and it is always great getting to meet people face to face after having them support me for so long over social media.”

Taylor’s next scheduled performance is March 7, 2019 at Skully’s Saloon in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
